Trois-Ponts, a typical Ardennes village

Trois-Ponts is a small village in the Belgian province of Liège. Due to its location in the heart of the real Ardennes, it is a paradise for people who seek peace and enjoy nature. The hilly landscape allows for beautiful walks and bike rides.

The village of Trois-Ponts.

The village of Trois-Ponts is located in a wooded area near the East Cantons and not far from the German border. Two rivers flow through the village, the Salm and the Amblève. In 1861, a train station was built on the edge of the village and since then Trois-Ponts has gradually developed into a tourist commercial point in the region. During both world wars the village was occupied by the Nazis and there was fierce fighting with the Allies. Here and there in the woods surrounding the village, traces of grenade or mortar impacts can still be found. In the village there are some nice hotels with restaurant facilities where people speak Dutch, of course.

Cycling and walking in the area.

Trois-Ponts is a real paradise for cycling tourists who would like to cycle on a slightly more challenging route. Beautiful cycling trips can be made from Trois-Ponts and the surrounding area over hilly terrain with very variable gradients.
It is therefore not surprising that the famous Walloon cycling classic Liège-Bastogne-Liège passes through the village every year before climbing the famous Côte de Wanne and Côte de Stockeu slopes. A number of signposted walks also depart from the village, each with a different difficulty and length. One of the most beautiful walks takes you to the La tour Leroux lookout tower. A 16 meter high tower has been built here from which you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the region. In the forests around the village you may occasionally encounter deer or wild boars. In the autumn there is a lot of hunting and these are not always accessible to the public. There are some nice playgrounds for children and there is the opportunity to take a ride on the back of a donkey during the summer months.

In summer you can discover a large wooden maze in Wanne with an area of approximately 2500m².
