Vejle, a city full of variations

When you think of Denmark, you automatically think of Copenhagen. But in addition to the well-known and vibrant Copenhagen, there are several cities in Denmark that are definitely worth a visit. Anyone who goes on holiday to Jutland will certainly not be bored in Vejle. Vejle is a city in southern Denmark and has more than 50,000 inhabitants. Besides Copenhagen, Odense and Arhus, it is one of the largest cities in Denmark. Given the versatility of the city, it is nice to live there, but there is also plenty to do for tourists,

Vejle beach

Vejle is located on the east coast of Denmark and the city has a nice sandy beach located directly on the Baltic Sea. When the weather is nice it is a wonderful place to stay and sea sports enthusiasts can also come here. There is plenty of sailing and canoeing and kayaking on the sea. Even if the weather is slightly worse, hiking enthusiasts can enjoy a nice walk in the nearby forest.

The nature playground

On the outskirts of Vejle there is a beautiful nature playground in the middle of the forest. The playground has been spaciously converted, has beautiful and varied wooden play equipment and the height differences are also used extensively. All this makes the playground a popular day trip for the residents of Vejle as well as for tourists. While the children have fun in the playground, which is easy to see, the adults can sit at one of the many picnic tables or have a barbecue themselves on the barbecues there.

The veteran train from Vejle to Jelling

In the months of July and August, an old-fashioned steam train with a 1928 locomotive runs regularly from Vejle to Jelling. The route lasts about fifteen minutes and is pleasant because of the old-fashioned interior, the cozy kiosk on the train and the retired conductor who happily cuts a hole in all purchased tickets with pliers. In Jelling there is even enough time to visit the famous Jelling Stones and the Jelling Church.

The art museum

Near the center of Vejle is the Vejle Art Museum. The museum is spacious and has a large collection of works of art. In addition to a number of beautiful paintings by various artists, there are also various statues and other art objects on display. A collection of paintings by Vejle from the 19th century also deserves special attention. The children have also been thought of. Although the museum is mainly for adults, children have also been taken into account. Many rooms offer small activities for children. Children can feel the different materials, make a puzzle from a painting or draw their own work of art.
