I’m going on holiday, but what should I take with me?

When you go on holiday there are a lot of things you will have to think about, so it is useful to write down a number of things so that you do not forget them. And when exactly you have to check in and where.

Ticket booked

Finally the ticket has been booked, now the rest. If you have booked a ticket through a travel agency, you will receive a folder containing everything you need. If you book a ticket via the internet, you will receive it by email, which is also called an E-ticket. Make sure that the passport name is the same as the name on your ticket, if not, it is not valid. If you have an E-ticket, you can print it out and take it with you, black and white does not matter.

Checking in

If you have booked a ticket through a travel agency, you will usually check in at the airport itself. If you have booked a ticket via the internet, you must check in online at least 15 days in advance, so have your details at hand, because a number of security questions will be asked that require your details. You will receive an email stating which site you should check in with, which email, etc. If you do not check in, or forget to check in, you will have to pay an amount at the airport. If you do not choose a seat number when checking in online, this is not a problem, you will be assigned a seat or you can choose one of the other seats.

Weight of the suitcase

Most airlines allow 20kg per person per suitcase. For some it is 15kg, these are the low-air-cost airlines such as Ryanair. If you have more than 15kg, you will have to pay extra. Hand luggage is usually 10kg, and with some airlines it is 5kg, so pay close attention to the permitted weight classes.

What should I think about?

If you go on holiday abroad, in some cases vaccinations are required, which you can obtain from the GGD. For reimbursement for these vaccinations, you will have to inform your health insurer whether they also guarantee this. It should also be remembered that not all countries have fresh water, so you cannot drink it and the food is not equally good everywhere. Please inquire about this carefully! In addition, it is important that you know that no liquids are allowed in your hand luggage, such as drinks, deodorants, etc.

Take your pet with you on holiday

It is possible to take a pet on the plane, but you will have to inquire about the conditions and rules. You will also have to check with your destination whether pets are allowed. An additional amount will also have to be paid for this, but that goes without saying. In addition, if you rent a car in another country, make sure that your pet is secured in a crate or the like, as this is mandatory in some countries. If you do not do this, there will be consequences. If you travel by public transport, you will need to have your pet on a leash or carry it with you. It is also recommended not to leave your dog alone, also due to the strange environment.
