Blanes, Salou or Lloret – The differences

Three popular holiday destinations for young people on the Spanish Costa are the seaside resorts of Salou, Blanes and Llorret de Mar. In the summer, all three places are flooded with young people who all come to celebrate. The difference between these three places is explained in this article.

Inhabitants & area

  1. Salou: 26,193 inhabitants and 15 km² of surface
  2. Blanes : 39,834 inhabitants and 18 km² of surface
  3. Lloret: 40,282 inhabitants and 48 km² of surface area

Salou

  • Crowds in high season: average
  • Nationalities in high season : Many Dutch, Spaniards and fewer Germans
  • Number of larger discos : 2 (Snoepy’s and La Cage)
  • Age: 18-22 years
  • Ratio of women/men: 35% are women

Salou is a pleasant nightlife on the Spanish Costa. Salou is located 108 km south of Barcelona. In Salou you will find many Dutch and Spaniards. In the (dance) bars you often find Dutch people, in the two larger discos there is a good distribution of Spaniards and Dutch people. Salou has a beautiful, long sandy beach where you can relax during the day.
In Salou there are proprietors who invite you to large parties outside, remember that they sometimes make their story a bit more beautiful than it is.

Blanes

  • Crowds in the high season: Comparatively quieter
  • Nationalities in high season: Mainly Dutch, some Spaniards later in the evening
  • Number of larger discos: 2 (Sa La Vega and De Arena)
  • Age: 17-22 years
  • Ratio of women/men: 45% are women

Blanes is relatively quieter than Salou, but this is also a pleasant place to go out with many Dutch people. Blanes has an old and new part of the city, the entertainment venues are located in the new part. In the old part there is still some culture and more luxurious restaurants than in the new part of Blanes. In the evenings and at night, the vast majority of young people go to the discos Sala Vega and De Arena. In these two discos you will find many Dutch people, later in the evening some Spanish young people will join them. Well-known (Dutch) artists regularly perform in Sa La Vega and De Arena, so entrance fees often have to be paid at these discos.
Blanes beach is a man-made pebble beach with a steep slope. In Blanes there are props who invite you to a number of special parties in the area.

Lloret

  • Busyness in the high season: enormous crowds
  • Nationalities in high season : Mainly English, Germans, Spanish and Dutch
  • Number of larger discos: many
  • Age: 19-26
  • Ratio of men/women : 55% are women

Lloret is by far the largest and busiest place when it comes to going out compared to the other two cities. All kinds of nationalities mix here. At night the streets are very busy and there are lights and lights everywhere, which is why it is also called the Las Vegas of the Spanish Costa. Las Vegas is of course a bit exaggerated, but in terms of lights, crowds and flats it is a bit like Las Vegas. In Lloret the atmosphere is different than in Blanes and Salou, for example, many girls wear extremely short skirts here, you can find more here traders on the streets at night and in our opinion there are also more strange figures walking the streets. Lloret also has many entertainment venues and many (Dutch) artists perform there every day. You will find several large discos in Lloret.
